World Literature

Credentials

Master of Arts in English: Creative Writing

Bachelor of Arts (Summa Cum Laude) in English: Writing and Rhetoric

Experience

Jeannie’s career started when she taught English 1101 and 1102 at Florida Atlantic University. Her life plan to get a PhD and teach college students was thwarted, however, the day she walked into a middle school classroom in Florida where she taught for three years and loved it. After moving to Georgia, Jeannie taught high school English at an alternative school for two years and at a Title I school for five years. Next, she taught for five years at one of the top high schools in Georgia where she served as team leader for Ninth Grade Literature and Composition. She has taught in Bosnia and Hungary and at a virtual public school. She currently teaches literature and writing to homeschooled students at a cooperative.

Personal Interest

Like the Solo brand slogan in the 90s, Jeannie believes life should be a party. She lives in Acworth, Georgia, with her husband of sixteen years, her fourteen-year-old daughter, a golden doodle named after a Pokemon, and a cat named after a Norse goddess. When she isn’t teaching or reading, Jeannie is causing (fun) mayhem and engaging in shenanigans. She loves unicorns, tiaras, karaoke, glitter, people, flamingos, parties, costumes, and all of the sparkly things.

Why JEANNIE is excited to be on the All Minds team

I have alway been passionate about meeting students where they are and making learning as accessible as possible. After reading Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper, I learned more about students who cannot use speech as their primary means of expression, as well as the lack of quality education usually available to them. I love that All Minds Academy is giving students an opportunity to learn in a way that is meaningful to them. I’m so excited to share my love of literature, and I can’t wait to see all that we accomplish together.
